Having worked the farm/country life beginning at age 9, having worked with countless businesses large and small, having sat at the table with all the upper titles of business, having worked in leadership positions, having owned and operated a few small businesses myself, and having been inside of several different schools (domestically & internationally) I’ve made some very important distinctions when it comes to why a lot of businesses are challenged with employee performance.
Now, you might be wondering what in the world does attending school have to do with challenges in the workplace, right?
Well, one important distinction is the fact that work ethic isn’t taught in public schools whatsoever. Period. Another important distinction is the fact that AI and robots have been rapidly replacing the need to think and the need to perform physical labor, both of which most businesses never prepared for.
Ultimately the collective distinctions have all contributed to the drastic decline in work ethic being experienced across America. Maybe even around the world.
Having developed a strong work ethic starting at 9 years old, and having worked in just about every industry imaginable, I’ve personally watched this decline take place.
