I truly believe businesses are vehicles that can Help drive the positive change the world so desperately needs

For most of my life I wanted to find a way to help make a difference in a world where corruption seems to grow stronger each year yet the amount of fellow humans who are able or willing to help “slow the spread” decreases.

And I’m not talking about helping just a few people here and there.  I’m talking about finding a way to help strengthen humanity’s position on a large scale but, the thought of such a task always seemed so overwhelming because at the time I didn’t even have the slightest idea as to how or where to begin.

how it started

I’ve served in the American workforce now for over 30 years as an entry level employee, as a leader, as a manager, and as a 3x small business owner…

Having held several leadership positions over the past 20 years, helping businesses hire, train and develop hundreds of employees, navigating through just about every performance challenge imaginable, and after working in just about every industry imaginable…

I’ve seen (and experienced) first hand the different challenges faced by both employers and employees, which is what ultimately led to the creation of Ricky T! Academy and all the programs, tools and resources that reside within. 

As far back as I can remember I’ve always looked for ways to improve myself and my position but it wasn’t until 2006 when I went into a personal and professional development frenzy immediately after reading a book called Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki

In spite of my weak financial position at the time, I invested the last few dollars I had and purchased RDPD because I resonated so much with the first couple pages because Robert’s one of very few business owners/entrepreneurs who’s courageous enough to speak up and help expose the blatant corruption that owns and operates our financial and educational institutions.

Since 2006 I’ve invested well over $250,000 and countless hours of time into my personal and professional development, and although I’ve held leadership positions for over 20 years I never had any intention of becoming a leadership performance coach (or a coach of any type) until around 2014/2015 while helping an aviation company establish itself through a fairly big transitional period.  It’s a really unique story about a gentleman who started his own aviation company by leveraging the very company he helped grow for most of his working career.  “Every thing came full circle” as you might say.  

The biggest challenge faced during the transitional period was the inability to have great leadership in place, which could be seen in the decline in quality standards and in the performance of burnt out disgruntled employees.

One day, when driving back home to Ponte Vedra Florida from Lake Charles Louisiana, it hit me like a ton of bricks…

I realized I had all of the materials, resources and experience, to create a custom program that would help this business simplify the act of it’s leadership and create an environment that would help strengthen the overall performance of its employees…and that’s when the concept of Ricky T! Academy coaching and consulting was born. 

I share this information not to impress you, but to impress upon you the type of commitment I have for my personal and professional development, to give you a snapshot at my workforce history and experience, and to share with you the overall purpose for Ricky T! Academy to exist. 

And for what it’s worth, it was during my time helping this aviation company transition when certain employees (for whatever reason) began calling me Ricky T, hence Ricky T! Academy.  The academy part represents my passion for education and life long development 🤓

Results & Outcomes

Here are just a few examples of how I’ve helped businesses simplify the leadership of their company and strengthen employee performance.

I’ve created step-by-step training programs that dramatically reduced the amount of time it took to train up new employees. 

I reframed the way employees looked at being held accountable which had a significant impact on employees with attendance issues. 

I’ve established various communication systems that dramatically reduced miscommunication and misunderstandings between leadership and employees. 

I’ve created incentive and rewards programs that increased employee engagement,  productivity and morale.

I’ve calculated the amount of man hours being wasted on a daily basis from employees needing materials, tools, bathroom breaks smoking breaks, and was able to make some adjustments that reduced the wasted time, which resulted in stronger bottom lines.  

I’ve also helped revamp shift and leadership meetings, keeping them short, concise and impactful.

Aside from simplifying leadership for businesses, the real value I bring to ANY team is my ability to quickly connect, build rapport with, and communicate on the behalf of, both employers and employees in a way that prevents a lot of conflict and resistance, and in a way that helps employees better understand why certain aspects of the workforce are the way they are, ultimately leading to increased trust, loyalty and productivity. 

What’s Next?

Now that I’ve established a solid foundation to build from, I am leveraging Ricky T! Academy and all the resources I’ve created to help my fellow humans on that large scale I was talking about at the very beginning.

I’m engaging and collaborating with as many business owners/leaders as possible to help simplify the leadership of their company.

If there’s any hope of strengthening humanity’s position before corruption completely over takes “we the people” it’s going to be with the help of businesses because…

My Word

This powerful technique is the first step towards strengthening employee performance. 

By getting employees to sign an agreement form it instantly sets in motion a psychological awareness that greatly increases the odds of an employee holding up to their end of the agreement because they “gave their word to it.”

The other really nice thing about an agreement form is that it enables you to lean on merits if an employee begins to fall short on their word for any reason, which dramatically reduces resistance or push back.

The fact of the matter is that any person who doesn’t have a goal set for themselves, they’re literally showing up just to collect a paycheck, which means they’re more likely to do just enough (bare minimum) to not get fired.
