For most of my life I wanted to find a way to help make a difference in a world where corruption seems to grow stronger each year with fewer fellow humans who are willing or able to help “slow the spread.”
And I’m not talking about helping just a few people here and there. I’m talking about finding a way to help on a large scale but the thought of such a task always seemed so overwhelming because at the time, I didn’t even have the slightest idea as to how or where to begin…
Thankfully, I found a way to help!
I’ve served in the American workforce now for over 30 years as an entry level employee, as a leader, as a manager, and as a 3x small business owner…
And after holding leadership positions for over 20 years helping several businesses hire, train and develop hundreds of employees, navigating through just about every performance challenge imaginable, and after working in just about every industry imaginable…
I’ve seen and experienced first hand the different challenges faced by both employers and employees, which has enabled me to empathize with (and advocate for) both sides and as simple as it may sound, most of the challenges experienced by either side come from a lack of purpose, clarity and transparency.
Back in 2006 I went into a personal an professional development frenzy because I wanted to strengthen my overall position in life, and because I wanted to be the best leader I could possibly be which led to investing over $250,000 and countless hours of personal time. Now mind you, by 2006 I had already held several leadership positions and had already started one business from scratch and sold it.
But it wasn’t until 2014 when the concept of Ricky T! Academy began to really take shape while I was helping an aviation company establish itself through a fairly big transition. It’s a really cool and unique story about a gentleman who ended up buying the very aviation company he helped grow for most of his working career. And just in case you’re wondering, it was during this timeframe when certain employees (for whatever reason) started calling me Ricky T, hence Ricky T! Academy.
I share this information with you not to impress you but to impress upon you the type of commitment I have for my personal and professional development, to give you a snapshot at my workforce history and experience, and to share with you the overall purpose of Ricky T! Academy.
Here are just a few examples of how I’ve helped businesses strengthen employee performance (including leadership).
I’ve helped a professional wedding DJ company provide better customer experiences for their clients which led to more word of mouth advertising, which led to more services sold.
I’ve helped a wedding venue establish irresistible offers which gave them an unfair advantage over most other venues in the area which increased their closing rate.
I’ve helped an aviation company reframe the way their employees looked at being held accountable which had a significant impact on the then attendance issues.
I’ve created incentive and rewards programs that increased employee engagement and productivity.
I’ve literally calculated the amount of man hours being wasted on a daily basis for one company and was able to help them make some adjustments that reduced the wasted time, which resulted in stronger profit margins.
I’ve also helped revamp shift and leadership meetings which proved to be more effective and efficient, reducing lots of wasted time (man hours) and materials.
But probably one of the most valuable ways I’ve helped businesses strengthen employee performance is by helping to communicate on the behalf of both employers and employees in a way that prevents conflict and resistance, and in a way that helps employees better understand why certain aspects of the workforce are the way they are.
I plan to leverage Ricky T! Academy and all the resources I’ve created to help my fellow humans on that large scale I was talking about at the very beginning.
I plan to engage and collaborate with as many business leaders as possible to help them more effectively and efficiently hire, train and develop their employees.
If there’s any hope of strengthening humanity’s position before corruption completely over takes “we the people” it’s going to be with the help of businesses because…
“Businesses are vehicles that can help drive the positive change the world so desperately needs”
– Ricky T!
